The Mashraba Team
The company is owned by Ed Poore and Mats Fischer. Ed has been diving since 1993 and is a PADI Course Director and one of only a handful of Technical diving Instructor Trainers in the Middle East. He spends most of his time concentrating on teaching Poseidon’s Instructor Programs. Ed also has a business background having spent 7 years managing projects for the BBC. Mats has been diving for 20 years and is almost a native Egyptian – his diving has been commercial as well as recreational. With them is a team that is not only very experienced but great fun to dive, work and socialize with.
Mats
Mats is a co-owner of Poseidon Divers and has been in Egypt for 15 years working for many dive organisations in Sharm El Sheikh, Taba and various livaboards in the Red Sea, managing 3 of them. Mats used to run an underwater Search and Recovery (salvage) company in Sweden and speaks several languages including Spanish, Dutch, English, German, Swedish and Arabic. He is also the man who fixes everything from compressors to boats - there is little he cannot take apart and put together even better than before.
Hans
After living in the cold of Sweden for long enough, I finally decided to commit to every day sunshine, good times, and a great laid back life-style. At Poseidon I’m working with the various tasks of the office as well as handling repairs and renovations of the Dive Center. And as a proud owner of the Advanced Bubblemaker certification my previous passion for the amazing wonders of the ocean has now flourished into a genuine love affair! No doubt by the time you arrive we will have swapped many emails so make sure you put your head into the office and say hi.
Summer
After a four year backpacking trip I stumbled upon the fabulous Sinai Peninsula, the Red Sea and of course Dahab. I felt instantly at home, so I am now here for keeps. I’m originally from the Coromandel, in the north island of New Zealand but you can now find me working on the counter at Poseidon. I’ll be the one handing out scuba kits and coffees and making you fill in all those forms. Here’s hoping I see you around the dive center soon.
Steve
Hi I’m Steve. I have been working and living in the Sinai Peninsula for 13 years. The first five years were spent managing Poseidon Divers here in Dahab, followed by seven years working in Sharm El Sheikh. As a staff instructor, I am now happy to be back home at Poseidon and enjoying working at such an awesome dive club.
Matt
Hi I’m Matt, Originally I’m from Zambia but I have been living here in Egypt for the last 10 years or so. I completed my Dive Master in ‘97’ and have been teaching since 2000. I am now a PADI IDC Staff instructor and looking forward to helping train new instructors on our very well known IDC Programmes. I have a wealth of experience founded originally in Commercial Diving, but now happily I am in my niche. Whether its for a Discover Scuba Diving course or for an Instructor Course I look forward to diving with you.
Naomi (Gnomes)
When given the choice between another boring office job back home in England or pursuing a career as a PADI Instructor in the beautiful Red Sea, there was no contest! So now I’m working as an Instructor here at Poseidon and planning to become a Staff Instructor in the very near future. I think Dahab is just perfect: the sun shines all year round, the diving is absolutely amazing and life can be as exciting or as laid back as you want it to be!
Amelie
Hi my name is Amelie, I'm originally from an iceberg called Quebec in Canada! After backpacking through Asia for a few years and trying every kind of crazy sport I discovered diving and fell in love! I've been a dive instructor for 3 years now and everyday is still new and exciting, I hope to dive with you here at Poseidon soon!
Dom
There something very special about introducing someone to a completely new and exciting experience. It’s a fantastic feeling seeing the big grin on a student’s face as they surface at one of Dahab’s beautiful dive sites. Simply put, I love my underwater office ... These are some of the reasons why my initial intention of being a dive pro for a year, in 2004, has lead to me becoming “stuck” in Dahab for a while longer than that! Besides the weather is better here than in London. I’ve also worked as an instructor in Thailand, but returned to Dahab because it’s such a great place to teach diving. Dahab also has a very special atmosphere which is hard to tear yourself away from. Look forward to seeing you at Poseidon...a dive centre with an awesome atmosphere and a great team.
Alistair
Hi ! I’m Ali and I am originally from Jersey in the Channel Islands. Growing up in a place surrounded by water meant that the sea would always be a part of my life, so becoming a Dive Instructor was always going to happen for me. I have lived and worked in Dahab for three years and loved every minute of it. I am a Dive Instructor and a Dive Guide at Poseidon and I look forward to seeing you when you come diving with us here
Mike
I managed to escape from London to the warm waters of the Red Sea where I am now the youngest Staff Instructor in Dahab. I have been diving for 7 years since I was 15, and been a PADI professional since 18yr. I enjoy the lifestyle here which is super laid back, like me! I don’t think you will find a more chilled out place to dive and relax. See you underwater.
Naida
I first learnt to dive in the UK in 2001, immediately falling in love with diving. My professional career in diving began in 2005 whilst also studying for my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. I had been instructing in the UK for over 2 ½ years before I moved to the chilled-out town of Dahab in 2007. Now I enjoy sharing my passion with divers in warm, blue waters against the backdrop of golden sands, palm trees, continual sunshine and the stunning mountains of Sinai! I am currently an IDC Staff Instructor, and have also gone on to develop my skills in technical diving becoming a fully qualified cave diver in Florida in 2006 as well as gaining instructor level qualifications in diving with Nitrox and Trimix. There’s always something new to learn!

The first time under water 5 years ago I felt like I was in a different world. This feeling still keeps on every single time I am under water teaching or guiding. As a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor I have this opportunity every single day in the relaxed atmosphere of Dahab. It’s just a great and relaxing world! I love to show you this amazing place! Hope to see you soon in the paradise of the Red Sea!
Nader
I’m from Cairo and I have been working at Poseidon Divers since 2006 as the finance manager & now I’m a PADI Divemaster. I really enjoy working here a lot. About my languages, I speak English, Italian & Arabic.
I can be found in the office ensuring that all the accounts are in order - without my work none of you would get a bill so be nice to me!
